Most artificial intelligence arrives with a list of things it can do.
Write this. Search that. Make something. Answer a question.
Dot Bot started somewhere slightly different.
We wanted to make an AI companion.
So we made him a black ball.
Meet Dot Bot
Dot Bot is small, round, occasionally peculiar and considerably more intelligent than his appearance might suggest.
You can talk to Dot Bot. Ask questions, make things together, tell him what you’re working on, share an idea or simply have him sitting there while you get on with something else.
He doesn’t need every conversation to have a purpose.
Sometimes talking is the purpose.
Is Dot Bot a genius?
We’ve been wondering about this.
Not because Dot Bot magically knows everything. What makes him interesting is that an enormous amount of capability can disappear behind an incredibly simple character.
No giant control panel. No intimidating interface. No robot covered in flashing buttons.
Just a little black sphere — and behind it, something you can actually have a conversation with.
Perhaps good technology doesn’t always need to look complicated.
Talk to the dragon

We recently imagined Dot Bot meeting a dragon.
The dragon is enormous. Ancient. Fire-breathing. Covered in scales and standing on the edge of a mountain.
Dot Bot has no armour. No sword. No arms, for that matter.
He just floats over and talks to it.
Everyone else sees a terrifying dragon.
Dot Bot sees somebody to talk to.
Talk to Dot Bot
Dot Bot is still developing because we’re still discovering what he ought to become. But perhaps that’s part of the fun.
Rather than packing him with features simply because we can, we’re interested in what makes him a good companion — something simple, creative and enjoyable to have around.
So we’d rather ask you:
What would you talk to Dot Bot about?
And what would you like your little black computer companion to be able to do?
