Get Found. Get Discovered. Purple Hippo is an independent search engine powered by Bubbles, and we’re developing a new way for independent musicians, artists, filmmakers, writers and other creators to share what they make.
You’ve made something wonderful. Help people discover it.
Making a song, filming a video or creating a piece of artwork takes imagination and effort. Finding an audience can be another challenge altogether. Purple Hippo is exploring a simple idea: give creators a place to introduce themselves and their work, then offer optional ways to promote it.
Free public creator profiles
Our vision is that creators will be able to set up a free public profile on Purple Hippo. Think of it as a home for your music, videos, artwork, biography and links to the places where people can enjoy your work. A musician could link to their latest track, a filmmaker to a short film, or an illustrator to a portfolio.
Free to be discovered. Pay to be promoted. The public profiles and account features described here are planned additions, not yet available for registration.
Meet My Hippo
My Hippo is the planned free account area for saving favourite websites and managing your creator profile. Ordinary web searching will remain available without signing in.
Introducing Purple Hippo Promote
Purple Hippo Promote is our proposed advertising service for independent creators and small businesses. The idea is straightforward: choose what you want to share, set an affordable budget and display a clearly labelled sponsored result when it’s relevant to someone’s search.
Paid promotions would be clearly distinguished from ordinary results, reviewed before appearing and subject to appropriate safeguards. We won’t promise an audience size or guaranteed results while the search engine is still growing.
Powered by Bubbles
Behind Purple Hippo is Bubbles, our independent web crawler and indexing technology. The search engine is live today, while creator profiles and promotional accounts are the next stage of the project.
