PKL FOR RESEARCHERS, SCIENTISTS AND EVIDENCE COMMUNITIES
Making the structure of knowledge easier to inspect
The PKL Scientific Brief introduces the Public Knowledge Ledger as research-facing infrastructure. It describes a system in which claims can be connected to evidence, provenance, review history, uncertainty and contradiction without flattening complex knowledge into a simple true-or-false label.
Scientific understanding changes through evidence and criticism. PKL is designed around that reality: conclusions may be provisional, sources may disagree and a strong record should preserve the reasoning behind change.
Why this may matter to science
- Claims can remain connected to their supporting sources.
- Provenance and revision history can be made visible.
- Contradictory evidence can be represented rather than hidden.
- Review can become an inspectable process rather than an invisible verdict.
- Machines and people can work from the same structured record.
This brief is an invitation to scrutiny and collaboration. PKL will become stronger when researchers test its assumptions, identify weaknesses and help define credible standards for evidence and review.
